Darin,
Here are some things that I noted while in the field on Wednesday. The area that
was manured on Judy's is much drier than where you applied ammonia, with the
exception of right in the band. The wheat that was so even 14 days ago has now
become variable and appears to be showing phosphate deficiency. Not sure why
this is but we are getting purple growth and some leaf firing. The strip that
had nitrogen on: the prells aren't broken down yet but this rain should do it.
The different wheat varieties appear to be showing different nutrient
deficiency's. Do you have past cropping history's on this field that we could
discuss. The top 16" for the most part was good soil on the wheat field but the
next 16" was yellow and tight soil. I am going to look at visual nutrient
deficiency today on the internet to see if anything else stands out on this
field. I am curious as to whether we are experiencing a chloride deficiency on
this wheat also. Different varieties will respond to chloride in different ways.
